Aside from Bjorn, the rest of Ragnar's family and friends really believed the King of Denmark had met his mortal end in "The Dead." To bid farewell to their leader, warriors such as Floki, Lagertha, and Rollo confessed their deepest, darkest secrets to his alleged corpse.

"He's heard everything! He knows what people think about him. They were moving confessionals, really...I'm sure Ragnar was smiling a little inside the coffin," series creator Michael Hirst confirmed, according to The Hollywood Reporter, adding that the trio will "suffer from that later; there's a carry-over because they've confessed things that they would have kept to themselves otherwise."
Ragnar, however, will also have three new characters to contend with when season 4 begins. These include King Harald Finehair (Peter Franzen) and Halfdan the Black (Jasper Paakkonen) of Scandinavia along with a Chinese traveler named Yidu (Dianne Doan).
