Orange Is the New Black's newest inmate speaks about joining the Litchfield prison in season 3.
'OITNB' Star Ruby Rose Talks How Show Could Have Been A 'Failure'
Ruby Rose, who is set to play new prisoner Stella in the upcoming third season, recently spoke with MTV UK about being cast in the Netflix prison dramedy.
The actress observed that she was going to end up in prison no matter what.
Why Is Taylor Schilling 'Scared' Of The Emmys?
"It was bound to go either way; land me in real prison or Hollywood. I was a huge fan of 'OITNB' and I was so incredibly taken aback and excited to be cast as Stella," Rose said. "I thought I would come to LA, get a small role on an average web series, move to a guest spot on a daytime series on TV, then - God willing - get a cool indie film. I know it's hard over here and competitive, so I feel very blessed to have my first break be on something so enormous and loved by the public, with such a talented cast and loving crew too."
Stella is an alluring presence that becomes a new object of desire to Piper (Taylor Schilling). While Rose admitted that she could not reveal too much about her character, the actress did speculate on her backstory for what made her end up in prison.
"Stella is a charming, androgynous, Australian inmate, who finds herself in a situation where she may or may not have some romance and may or may not cause some drama," Rose said. "I'm not sure... I'm just going off what I read on the internet. If you look at the Stella artwork with the candle there is a Koala in it also, so you know, maybe my crime involves a gang of Koalas?
Orange Is the New Black season 3 will be released on Friday, June 12 on Netflix. All 13 episodes are being released at the same time.
