In one of the biggest matchups of Week 9, Eli Manning and the defending Super Bowl champion New York Giants (6-2) will face off against Ben Roethlisberger and the Pittsburgh Steelers (4-3).

In order for Giants to be effective against Big Ben and the Pittsburgh offense, they must show improvement on defense. New York currently ranks 26th against the pass and 19th against the run this season. The Giants will attempt to address the matter by starting Mark Herzlich in place of linebacker Chase Blackburn. Big Blue is hoping the move will limit the yardage out of the Steelers' backfield, which has lost a considerable amount of depth in the backfield.

Pittsburgh will likely be without the services of RB Jonathan Dwyer. The rusher is questionable due to a right quad strain. To add insult to injury (no pun intended), their other starting RB Rashard Mendenhall is also doubtful with a injured right Achilles.

The Steelers will more than certainly turn to Isaac Redman and his ailing ankles to post up as Roethlisberger's key ground man. According to The Wall Street Journal, Redman spoke about how fortunate the team was to have the depth that they do in the backfield amid the injuries.

"The good thing is that we've got three good running backs, so when somebody goes down we always have somebody else ready to go. It's a shame that we all can't get healthy at the same time, but that's what makes it crucial that we have so much depth," he said.

Dwyer became the first Pittsburgh running back in the last four years to rack up two consecutive 100-yard games as he rushed for 107 yards against the Washington Redskins in the team's Week 8 victory over Washington. The backfield standout also commented to the site on his injury and what it meant in the overall scheme of things for the Steelers.

"It's all about getting wins and getting to the Super Bowl, that's all I care about. Sure, I want to be out there and play, so when I'm ready to go I'll be on the field," he stated.
