Orange Is the New Black star Taylor Schilling recently revealed why she takes negative reviews with a grain of salt and dished on her complicated relationship with the Internet.

Stella Taunts Piper In New 'Orange Is the New Black' Sneak Peek

Schilling, who plays Piper Chapman on Orange Is the New Black, has gotten her fair share of criticism like anyone in the world of entertainment, but she tries not to let it bother her. The actress recently spoke with Cover Media about how she stays focused on her craft.

"I think that this is part of cutting your teeth as an artist and I think that anybody who's putting themselves out in the world will always get mixed opinions about anything," she said, when asked about criticism. "So for me the most important thing is to keep coming back to why I do what I do, which is that it fulfills me and I feel that this is the way I can be of service in the world. It's not about what other people think of me. So as long as I'm focused... Well of course it is painful but my intention of doing this job is not to get good reviews."

She admitted that her lack of constant engagement with social media sites like Facebook and Twitter makes her a bit of a "black sheep" in today's culture - but ultimately she is okay with that.

"I think that my work and my personal life are two different things," Schilling noted. "I know it can be confusing to have a job that is sort of public and then not making your personal life public. But I do think there is a differentiation and I've just been trying to follow in the footsteps of actors that I greatly admire, like Jessica Lange, Julianne Moore, Meryl Streep of course, Cate Blanchett. I'm a big fan of people like Jessica Chastain and Diane Keaton. You know, just women who are about their work and their work speaks for itself."

Like the actresses she has admired, Schilling has been nominated at multiple award shows for her work on Orange Is the New Black. It remains to be seen if she will receive a second consecutive Emmy nomination in July.

Orange Is the New Black season 3 is set for release on Friday, June 12 on Netflix. All 13 episodes will be released at once.
