Falling Skies' Hal left his childhood behind a long time ago, and the battle-forged Mason will stop listening to his old man in season 5.

'Falling Skies' Season 5: Meet The New Aliens; Moon Bloodgood Teases 'Major Foreshadowing'

The dearly departed Mrs. Mason gave birth to three particularly headstrong sons, and Hal (Drew Roy), Ben (Connor Jessup), and Matt's (Maxim Knight) stubbornness and determination have managed to see them through four seasons of a post-apocalyptic nightmare. Now, however, those same qualities will lead Hal away from the 2nd Mass.

The split will happen in episode 3, which is titled "Hatchlings." As Weaver's (Will Patton) ever-dwindling supply of survivors sets out to find the source for the surge of recent alien forces, Hal will "disobey his father." Tom (Noah Wyle) will than have to launch a rescue mission for his wayward son in episode 5 ("Non-Essential Personnel"), according to Spoiler TV.

It is currently unknown how Hal will become separated from his family, but Roy recently teased what will happen while he is away. Long story short - the Hal/Maggie situation is about to get a teeny tiny bit more complicated.

"Things get a little complicated and as the season progresses I get separated from everybody else and meet someone else," Roy told Whedonopolis at Wondercon 2015. "We have to see how that all unfolds."
