Congratulations, new Wayward Pines resident, you've been selected to jump two thousands years into the future.

'But why?' you ask.
Well, that's a question best answered by showrunner Chad Hodge, who, in the wake of episode 5's mind-blowing reveals, took the time to suss out why Ethan (Matt Dillon) and his fellow Pines residents were uprooted from 2015 and dropped into Dr. David Pilcher's 4028 experiment.

"A lot of people were chosen for specific reasons, Ethan for sure," Hodge told TV Line. "Some people were chosen because they happened to be around Wayward Pines and they could easily hijack or abduct them. Some people were chosen because this is actually a better life than the life they had before - you'll see a lot more of that as we go through Episodes 6 and 7."
How the town's populace actually made it into the future, however, remains a mystery. While Wayne Johnson (Scott Michael Campbell) may have accurately described the stasis pods that kept them alive, it is currently unknown how Nurse Pam (Melissa Leo) and Pilcher (Toby Jones) can exist in both the current time line and that of the future.
