In a clash between two Big 12 teams, the undefeated Kansas State Wildcats will look to remain flawless when they take on the TCU Horned Frogs. Although the No. 2 Wildcats are the heavy favorites going into the college showdown, the Horned Frogs are coming off an emotional victory last week against the likes of West Virginia.
The game will have large scale implications for K-State and their QB Collin Klein, who appears to be in the running for the Heisman Trophy. However, the signal caller is still listed as probable, due to a head injury he sustained in last Saturday's 44-30 win over Oklahoma.
According to Fox Sports, Wildcats' head coach Billy Synder told the media on Tuesday that he's expecting his prized quarterback to be available.
"Let's cut to the chase. Would I expect him to play? I certainly hope that's the case, and I would expect that to take place," he said.
Defensively, K-State has been limiting its opposition to a mere 18.6 points per game. To top it off, they've even managed to hold both Oklahoma and West Virginia to less than 20 points each.
In TCU's benefit, they do boast an underrated defense that could give the Wildcats' offense a run for its money. Junior Stansly Maponga and Freshman Devonte Fields make up one of the country's best defensive end tandems.
With premiere defensive coach Dick Bumpas coordinating the Horned Frogs' defenders, K-state may have to adjust accordingly to put up the point totals that they're used to.
Interestingly enough, the matchup will mark TCU head coach Gary Patterson's very first game opposing his Alma Mater. Patterson was both a safety and linebacker for the Wildcats in 1980 and 1981.
