The Chicago Bears (7-1) will take on the Houston Texans (7-1) in what should be a very competitive NFL matchup at Soldier Field. Astonishingly, the Bears sport a 4-0 mark at home while the Texans are flawless on the road at 3-0 this season.

The Sunday night showdown is slated to be a strong test for both squads as they each have high hopes to reach the Super Bowl in February. Ironically, each team's only defeat came at the hands of the Green Bay Packers.

Up until this point, the Bears defense has effectively capitalized on the team's favorable first half schedule. The knock on Chicago is that they've only prevailed against one football club with a record at .500 or better. Nonetheless, their success cannot be discounted as they'll be going for their seventh straight victory for the first time in six years.

Bears' head coach Lovie Smith spoke to Yahoo about the importance of the gridiron battle between the two top teams.

"Each game as you continue to win, the stakes go up a little bit higher. We realize that and we're going to embrace it. We're going to embrace this national stage that we have this Sunday night," he said.

"I don't want guys to start thinking, 'Hey let's hold on, something bad's going to happen.' We're a good football team. We're excited about playing the Texans. I see our team getting better and better. We haven't peaked yet," added Smith.

Chicago's second half will be significantly tougher than its first, which begins against Houston, who are also running on all cylinders. The Texans have been outperforming their opposition on both offense and defense, which are two clear-cut reasons they sit atop the AFC.
