Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) set sail for Paris in the wake of season 1, but the time traveler and her husband will return to the Highlands as the events of Dragonfly in Amber unfold. "I don't know again exactly when I'm going to be back on it but towards the end of the year," Cree told Flicks and the City in regards to Ian's next appearance. "I suppose it depends on how accurately they stick with the books or not."
Cree appeared in three season 1 episodes, including "Lallybroch," "The Watch," and "The Search." The actor noted that Ian's days on the frontlines are now behind him, but his future as a father is just beginning. The Fraser estate will echo with the patter of little feet for some time to come.
