Clary's best friend isn't a Downworlder, but the teen will jump head long into New York City's supernatural underground when Clary's mother is kidnapped. As Clary learns her role as a shadowhunter (half angel/half human hybrids that hunt demons), Simon will have to navigate this new universe sans paranormal affiliation.

So, Mortal Instrument fans, what is Simon using to wet his whistle? It's safe to say that the answer can be found in Cassandra Clare's City of Bones. Pics from filming for episode 1 show that series is keeping the story close to the original texts, particularly the Pandemonium scenes.

"We're just trying to bring the cinematic experience to the television form one hour at a time, one week at a time," executive producer McG said, according to Entertainment Weekly. "And we're absolutely passionate about honoring the fans and delivering on the promise of the book series."
