Anthony Geary Retirement: Actor's Final 'General Hospital' Airdate Revealed, See When Luke Will Officially Exit [PHOTO]
The official final airdate for Luke Spencer on General Hospital has been revealed.
Anthony Geary Has His Final Day Onset
The final episode to feature the iconic character portrayed by Anthony Geary for the past 37 years will air on July 27, and will see the official end of the character's run on the show following Geary's decision to retire from the role.
It is unclear how Luke would exit the series, with those involved with the show keeping mum about whether the character being written out would involve a decision to just leave the fictional town of Port Charles, or if he would be killed off.
Geary's final day on-set was last week, and several cast members showed up to wish him a fond farewell and say their goodbyes, including those who have not been on the show for some time.
Among those who wished him a fond farewell on social media were his on-screen niece and nephew, Carly (Laura Wright) and Lucas (Ryan Carnes).
Genie Francis, who portrays Luke's one-time great love Laura, recently did an interview about her on-screen romantic interest's departure, and admitted she doesn't know how his character will exit from the canvas--but admitted that there are going to be scenes that fans will never forget about Luke's story.
"I don't have any hints for you, because I don't know myself. Which is nice, because I don't have to sit here telling lies to you. I'd rather not know," she said at the time.
Of the scenes that she considers most memorable from Luke's upcoming departure however, she says the ones he has with Lucky (Jonathan Jackson) will be the ones fans will love the most.
"...It was just amazing. I didn't get a one-on-one scene with Jonathan, which was very disappointing," she said. "But Tony had some scenes with Jonathan that are jaw-dropping, not-to-be-missed, like motion picture-level work. They're definitely scenes that nobody should miss. I sat at the monitor with my jaw dropped and couldn't leave, getting chills. So I think it's something you don't want to miss."
