'Castle' Season 8 Premiere: Episode Title Revealed To Be 'XY,' But What Does This Mean?
The season 8 premiere episode of ABC's Castle will have a very interesting title.
Will Rick Spend Too Much Time With New Female Character in 'Castle' Season 8?
The eighth season premiere of Castle will be titled XY, according to a new TVLine report. Additionally, the premiere will have two parts and be written by new showrunners Alexi Hawley and Terence Paul Winter.
The XY title could mean anything, though it presumably refers to the XY chromosome present in males. Will the premiere have something to do with chromosomes or DNA of some sort? Only time will tell.
Are Rick & Beckett Heading For A Breakup on 'Castle'?
Meanwhile, there are reports about a new character who might be stirring things up in season 8. The new season will introduce Hayley, a security specialist who is a "quick-witted, free-spirited former LAPD cop" (as per TVLine). The actress playing this role has not been officially cast yet, but it is expected to be a "fractional" series regular role.
Hayley will apparently be spending a lot of time with Castle (Nathan Fillion), though it is not yet clear if this has any sort of romantic implications.
Things are going to look a little different when Castle returns for a new season. Penny Johnson Jerald, who played Captain Gates for several seasons, was not asked back for season 8. This suggests that things will be shaken up when we see Castle, Beckett (Stana Katic) and the gang again.
Castle season 8 is set to premiere on Monday, Sept. 21 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
