'Outlander' Season 2: Changes Are Coming; Diana Gabaldon Endorses 'Effective' Deviation's From Novel At SDCC [VIDEO]
Outlander is throwing out the script...err, book, rather.
The Starz adaptation of Diana Gabaldon's time-traveling series played it close to the text in season 1, but Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie's (Sam Heughan) trip to Paris will spark a few changes as season 2 gets underway. Loyal fans may grind their teeth at any creative edits to the events of Dragonfly in Amber, but the new Outlander scripts have received Galaldon's seal of approval.
The series' original author is perfectly at ease with Starz upcoming changes. Gabaldon is so un-rattled, in fact, that she thoroughly supported season 2's alterations while attending San Diego Comic-Con with Heughan, Balfe, and showrunner Ron Moore.

"The book is very complex; it's dealing with multiple time periods and points of view," Gabaldon told Entertainment Weekly of the series' second novel. "There are things you can do in text that you can't do on TV and vica versa, there are a lot things you can do on TV that you can't do, or can't do as effectively, [in text]. So I think the Ron [Moore] and the crew has done a good job of picking out the main story line and being able to tell it in a very effective visual way."
If you are looking to flush out the finer point's of Claire's adventures, Gabaldon reminded fans that "the books are always there."
As for what exactly will be altered, Gabaldon and Moore are keeping mum. Viewers will have to tune in to the History Channel this spring to find out.
