Regina (Lana Parrilla), Robin Hood (Sean Maguire) and Zelena (Rebecca Mader) of ABC's Once Upon a Time won't necessarily be in a love triangle in season 5.

Zelena returned near the end of season 4 of OUAT to ruin her sister Regina's life. It was revealed that she had impersonated Marian (Christie Laing) and gotten Robin to impregnate her. Since Regina believes Robin to be her true love, this obviously complicated things.

The storyline continues in season 5. Once Upon a Time co-creators Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz spoke with Entertainment Weekly and revealed that the threesome are engaged in a love obstacle more than a love triangle.

Will 'Once Upon a Time's Hook Turn To The Dark Side Because Of Emma?

Horowitz said, "I wouldn't call it a love triangle. It's a-" Kitsis added, "-love obstacle. It's the annoying guest that won't leave your house. They say they just need a place until they find an apartment, but they never find an apartment."

Horowitz noted that, "obviously, Zelena's presence presents many issues," with Kitsis quipping, I would say it's the guest who won't leave, but instead of just eating your ramen, they're trying to kill you."

Zelena fans shouldn't expect her to have any sort of turn around as far as a redemption story.

"The Wicked Witch is still wicked. I would say she's pretty unrepentant about what she's done at the start, which is not to say there's not a tortured soul inside of [her]," Horowitz revealed. "We obviously have her to have some depth, but she has done some pretty horrific things. It's created some issues that Robin and Regina have to deal with. Yeah, it's not a love triangle."

Once Upon a Time season 5 premieres Sunday, Sept. 27 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
