In a preview clip for the fifth episode, airing July 19, the consequences of the raid which saw unrelenting carnage unfold on the streets of Vinci in an effort to bring in the man who was believed to be responsible for Caspere's death may effect everything got the detectives.

For Velcoro, it could mean something shocking happening during his court hearing to have custody of his son--and he could wind up losing everything to his ex-wife as a result of what's happened.

How Will Bezzerides & Velcoro's Pasts Affect The Investigation?

Meanwhile Bezzerides, who had a target on her back because of her looking into Mayor Chessani's family and was suspended for her relationship with a subordinate, the unsuccessful raid may have been the final nail in her professional coffin, with punishment being a huge demotion down the ranks back to a patrol officer.

However, despite the demotion, it appears she isn't ready to let the case rest--and thinks the raid was a set-up to potentially close the case as quickly as possible without revealing the truth.
