Outlander's Jamie is down and out, but Claire won't let him wallow in his traumas.
Outlander' Season 2: Too Much 'Pressure' 'Tests' Claire & Jamie's Relationship? Sam Heughan Explains
The Highlander experienced a brutal end to the series' freshman season, and the actions of Black Jack Randall (Tobia Menzies) will weigh heavily on his mind as season 2 begins. Luckily for Jamie (Sam Heughan), there is one person who will keep him from falling into his chronic nightmares and insecurities.
"He does talk to Claire. He is sort of an emotionally open person, he always has been," author Diana Gabaldon revealed at San Diego Comic Con, according to TV Goodness. "While this naturally traumatized him, he still depends on Claire. She's basically his only lifeline."
Claire (Caitriona Balfe) will provide more than a sympathetic ear, however. The time traveler will keep her husband so industriously employed solving Scotland's current problem, the impending Jacobite Rising, that Jamie will have little time to dwell on his time at Wentworth Prison.
"I think this season Claire kind of sees that he needs something else to take his mind off what had happened and to give him some sort of other reason for getting up in the morning and going to do stuff," Balfe teased at San Diego Comic-Con, according to TV Goodness. "She uses the politics and gives him this mission, in a way, to sort of help him get passed what happened."
Find out if Claire's plans will work when Outlander returns to Starz later this year.
