Claire (Caitriona Balfe) grew up without a maternal influence of her own, and the time traveler will start to worry her lack of experience as her season 2 due date draws near. Previously told she could never get pregnant, Claire's sudden reversal of fortune will have her pondering the past as she worries the future.
"It changes everything," Balfe told Access Hollywood. "When you kind of believe that something is impossible and then that changes... it brings up a lot of stuff about her own family and her past. She lost her parents when she was 5, so she's never really had that kind of mother figure there to guide her, and I think it brings up a lot of that stuff for her."

As nerve-racking as welcoming a child can be it's a task that Clare and Jamie (Sam Heughan) are more than happy to take on together.
"It's something that brings Jamie and Claire really together, and it's a beautiful part of the story," Balfe said of the upcoming trials and tribulations.
