Jane Lynch might just be coming back in season 11 of Criminal Minds as Dr. Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler) mother, Diana.

Previously Gubler had revealed his wish to see his character's mother come back in the next chapter and now showrunner Erica Messer seconds Gubler.

In an interview with TVGuide, Messer strongly suggested that they wanted get Lynch to reprise her role in the CBS procedural. "Now with Glee finished and [Lynch's new show Angel From Hell] is on CBS ... I don't think that will be a problem," Messet said. "We absolutely want her back. I've talked to Matthew about it. We've got to find a reason to bring her back because I don't want it to be unrealistic or just to have her. And we want to be able to use her well too."

Could Ella Greenaway Return For Season 11?

Messer also spoke about where they left off with Diana's character arc in season 9. "She was doing well last we heard, which is great," Messer said. "But often with the drama shows, you need a dramatic reason that she's back, so we're going to figure that out first. But I think she'll come back and play again."

In an interview with Digital Spy at the Monte Carlo TV Festival, Gubler revealed that he hoped that the next chapter would delve more into Reid's personal life, and particularly wanted his mother to drop by.

"I'd love to delve more into his home life and his social life and to see his mother return and just to, kind of, like figure out what he does on the weekends," Gubler said.

Season 11 of Criminal Minds will premiere on Sept. 23 on CBS.
