Serena Williams 'Best' Award, Female Athlete of the Year 2013 by AP For the Third Time

Serena Williams was honored as The Associated Press' 2013 Female Athlete of the Year on Wednesday.The prestige is the third AP award for Williams after she won the same honor in 2002 and 2009. Only two women have been chosen more often as AP Athlete of the Year since the annual awards were first handed out in 1931: Chris Evert achieved four and Babe Didrikson six.

Men's tennis player Andy Murray won his first Grand Slam title on Monday. Sept. 10 and his girlfriend Kim Sears joined thousands in the audience to witness him acquire his biggest win to date. Sears who has been dating Murray since 2006, watched Murray beat Novak Djokovic in a five-set game in Flushing Meadows, Queens. He is the first British men's tennis player to win the US Open since Fred Perry almost 80 years ago. The British beauty is a college graduate who lives with Murray in England, the daughter of tennis coach Nigel Sears who has has always been supportive of Murray in the past six years. The 24-year-old is well-known fixture at his many tennis matches around the world.
