A recent Vanity Fair piece suggested that Kalinda was remembered in a negative light in the latest episode of The Good Wife.

As Alicia (Julianna Margulies) is hiring a new investigator she asks a candidate -- who is sharply dressed and has a brisk way about her -- if she knows Kalinda (Archie Panjabi), adding that she reminds her of Kalinda. As the investigator fails Alicia on a case, and she is fired, the VF piece inferred that it also showed badly on Kalinda as the investigator was compared to her. Showrunners, Michelle and Robert King were very disconcerted by this inference, feeling the need to quickly rectify things by sending a note to VF about how the scene had been badly misconstrued.

"Yikes, no, no, no. There's a line in Tony Kushner's screenplay for LINCOLN that reads 'What a joy to be comprehended.' This feels the opposite. What a true displeasure. No, the scene is only to dramatize Alicia's attempt to return to her comfort zone and move away from someone with which she truly has chemistry (the Jason Crouse character). The next time we want to be meta, we'll add a man-bun."

The whole controversy surrounding the Kalinda-Alicia scene in the finale of season 6 and the alleged feud between Panjabi and Margulies might be the root of all of these interpretations.

In August Kings addressed their reasons for doctoring the scene in an interview with Deadline.

"We are certainly never ever hoping to hurt the fans' feelings or make them feel like that trust has been broken," said Michelle King. "But we're making the show every day using tricks, like if you're in a car and there's green screen and it looks like Chicago out the window but that's not exactly where we are."

Robert King went on to suggest that the way Kalinda left should be the least of fans' worries and this was just becoming something of a norm on the series.

"If there was any point where the fans maybe should've felt duped, it was when Josh Charles left the show. We kept something from the fans for a long time, because we knew a year earlier that we were going to be killing Will... And I think if the audience feels duped about the way Kalinda left, they should see how next season goes for them."

Episode 2 of season 7 of The Good Wife will air on Oct. 11 on CBS.
