'Survivor' 2015 News: 'Samoa', 'Blood vs Water' Vet Laura Morett Runs For State Representative, 'I Care About Our Future'
Laura Morett may have wanted to avoid votes in her two seasons of Survivor, but now she wants your vote as she runs for State Representative in her home state of Oregon.
Morett is officially running for State Representative in the Oregon House District 20. The office manager and fitness instructor is a Republican hoping to challenge Oregon Rep. Paul Evans, a Democrat.
"Hi, I know many of you already, I am your friend and neighbor, Laura Morett. I was born in Salem and my husband and I have raised our three kids here," she writes on her official website. "As a small business owner, mom and community member, I care about our future and I want to help bring common sense back to our state one issue and solution at a time. Please join my campaign for state representative!"
Morett was a cast member on Survivor: Samoa back in 2009 where she would become a leader of her tribe. She ultimately came in 10th place.
She returned eight seasons later for Survivor: Blood vs. Water, a season that featured 10 returning players competing with and against a respective loved one. Morett played with her daughter, Ciera Eastin, who famously voted Morett out of the game. Morett would come in sixth place (Eastin returned as a contestant on the show's current season, Survivor: Cambodia - Second Chance).
More has not revealed her stance on certain issues yet, according to OregonLive.com
"We'll go into that later," she said Tuesday. "Today I just want to be about my announcement."
