Donald Trump's ex-wife Marla Maples is slated to compete on the new season of ABC's Dancing With the Stars, so what does the presidential hopeful think of her chances?

It was announced this week that Maples is part of the new season of Dancing With the Stars to air this spring. Even though they divorced in 1999, Trump is still supportive of her success.

"I think it is wonderful. I am very happy for her and think she will do very well," Trump told People in a statement this week.

The pair had previously been married for six years.

Maples spoke with Entertainment Tonight about her decision to compete this season, discussing her determination to win.

"It's totally real now and there's no backing out. There is no going home," she said. "We are in it to win it. Now's my time to step up with what I believe in."

Geraldo Rivera, another celeb set to compete on the new season of DWTS and is a close associate with Trump, also spoke with Entertainment Tonight about Maples.

"I can't imagine what Marla Maples' life must be like. The poor thing, that's probably why she's been underground. I support her courage," he said.

Maples has been paired with Tony Dovolani, who is the longest running pro on the series, having first competed in season 2.

Dancing With the Stars season 22 premieres Monday, March 21 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
