Once Upon a Time star Jennifer Morrison recently spoke on why her character, Emma, and company have greater unity in the second half of the season.

With Emma, Regina (Lana Parrilla), Mary Margaret (Ginnifer Goodwin), David (Josh Dallas), Robin Hood (Sean Maguire) and Mr. Gold (Robert Carlyle) all going on a mission through the Underworld to save Hook (Colin O'Donoghue), our heroes are more mobilized and unified than ever before.

Morrison talked with TVLine recently about this unity and how it actually harkens back to the first few seasons of Once Upon a Time.

"We're a closer unit now," Morrison noted. "We've been through a lot more at this point, and in coming across these people in the Underworld, we've returned to the situation of being heroes that can help. So whereas in Storybrooke we were helping return happy endings, we're now helping people overcome their unfinished business, so there are callbacks to what we saw in Seasons 1 and 2."

Once Upon a Time co-showrunner Edward Kitsis previously spoke with Entertainment Weekly about the similar themes presented in season 5B compared to the first season.

"The second half is going to be very similar to the first season in that we're going to see Storybrooke as a place of people with unfinished business," Kitsis said. "We have to wonder if we can't help them find their happy endings even in the afterlife."

Kitts's also said in another interview with Entertainment Weekly that all of our heroes can serve as Saviors in the Underworld, not just Emma and Regina.

"I think everyone is trying to be," Kitsis said, when asked if Regina is the Savior of the Underworld. "It's a place where heroes have a chance to be heroic. It's a place where sometimes our pasts come back to haunt us, and you have a chance to find closure. Everyone has an opportunity to be a Savior at some point in their own history."

Once Upon a Time airs Sundays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
