'Big Brother 18' Premiere Date: CBS Reveals June Return, With A Twist [VIDEO]
Big Brother 18 officially has a premiere date for the summer!
CBS has released their summer 2016 TV schedule, and the top news is the premiere date for Big Brother 18. The long-standing reality show is returning for season 18 on Wednesday, June 22.
The premiere will be a special two-hour episode airing from 8-10 p.m. ET. There will be a new episode on Thursday as well, at 9 p.m. ET, followed by another new episode Sunday, June 26 at 8 p.m. ET. This will be the schedule going forward through the summer, with the following Wednesday (June 29) being a one-hour episode.
This is the usual schedule for Big Brother, but it is noteworthy that they are starting with a two-hour premiere. Typically, the premiere is either contained in one hour or "concludes" the following day. This suggests there may be some big twists involved in the premiere episode.
The series coming off one of the more divisive seasons in its history. Big Brother 17 was thought to be a Top 5 season for some, but others thought it was the worst season they've ever produced. The gameplay was active from the first episode of the season, but many fans grew weary of the alliance that ultimately took over and got to the end of the game: Vanessa Rousso, Austin Matelson, Julia Nolan, Liz Nolan and Steve Moses.
Some believed that the lack of standout popular characters resulted in a dull season overall. James Huling and John "Johnny Mac" McGuire wound up being fan favorites but were so rarely in power that it was believed to be a somewhat unsatisfying outcome. Others were big fans of Vanessa's dominant gameplay, but she just fell short of taking home the grand prize after losing the final HOH competition, finishing in third place.
Will Big Brother 18 result in a more favorable reception from the fanbase? Only time will tell, but obsessive fans are already counting down the days for the summer.
