While fans are excited about Netflix announcing the season 2 release date for Bloodline, the future of the series may be in question.

Earlier this week, Netflix announced that season 2 of Bloodline will drop on May 27. But will this also serve as the final season of Bloodline? It's very possible at this point.

The series shoots in the Florida Keys—a location that is absolutely integral to the fabric of the show, but things are now complicated. The tax incentive program offered by Florida is ending in July. This program has allowed many shows and movies from Bloodline to Ballers to afford to shoot there.

Local Florida Keys newspaper The Keynoter has a new report discussing why the future of Bloodline may be in jeopardy.

"This was devastating news," said John Lux, an Orlando media professional and executive board member for production company Film Florida. "There's no doubt that future seasons of 'Bloodline' are in jeopardy, along with [HBO's] 'Ballers' and every other production considering Florida."

Bloodline has yet to officially be renewed for season 3, so fans will be patiently waiting to see if the show can find another environment to pose as the Florida Keys in order to continue it.

In the meantime, though, fans will at least get to see season 2, which picks up where season 1 left off. The Rayburn family will be hiding what they did to Danny (Ben Mendelsohn) while dealing with new people in their lives.

"Season 2 begins with the Rayburn family struggling to conceal their unthinkable crime," the Netflix synopsis for season 2 reads. "Mysterious strangers from Danny's past arrive with a dangerous agenda. Law enforcement is closing in on the truth behind Danny's murder. And the tight-knit family's once harmonious relationship is poisoned by paranoia and mistrust as it slowly begins to unravel. Lies mount. Alliances are betrayed. Relationships are destroyed. With their backs against the wall, good people may have to do some very bad things."
