'Dancing With the Stars' Cast: Mark Ballas Receiving 'More Tests' As Fate Remains Uncertain [VIDEO]
Mark Ballas was not able to dance last night on ABC's Dancing With the Stars and it's still unknown if he'll be able to continue with this current season.
Ballas had to watch from the sidelines during Monday night's episode of Dancing With the Stars as his celebrity partner, Paige VanZant, danced with substitute dancer Alan Bersten. On Sunday, Ballas suffered a back injury that made him unable to dance, and it's tough to tell when he will be better.
VanZant spoke about Ballas with Glamour after her performance last night.
"He's going to have some more tests tomorrow," she revealed. "It's so up in the air. I didn't find out I was doing the dance with Alan until two hours before the show."
VanZant was tasked with learning a new ending to the dance in the hours leading up to Monday night's performance.
"Mark [and I] had one trick where I kind of lift him [because] Mark's a little closer to my size. Alan's much bigger, [so] it just wouldn't have worked. I didn't even want to chance it."
It all paid off, though, as VanZant scored a 24 out of 30 from the judges, tying her for first overall with Wanyá Morris Monday night. The UFC fighter spoke about Morris as well:
"I've always said that Wanya is going to be the one to beat, so just to be tied with him is an honor. He's great. I love seeing him perform," she admitted.
Ballas tweeted last night about VanZant and Bersten's performance and admitted that he will be "back," though there is no indication as to when.
Based on VanZant's success so far on the show, though, she will likely be on for a while, allowing Ballas to return whenever he is fully ready.
Dancing With the Stars airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
