Outlander's Sam Heughan is sweating the season 2 premiere.

Nerves before a series launch are to be expected, but now, over a year after the Diana Gabaldon first hit screens, Heughan and Caitriona Balfe are worried Outlander's change in scenery will ruffle a few feathers.

"I was chatting to Caitriona last night, we went for dinner, and we're sort nervous about series 2 because it's different," Heughan told the Radio Times. "It's very different."

With legions of die-hard fans at their backs, the Starz couple needn't worry. Claire and Jamie's trip to Paris is lifted straight from the novels, and book readers know full well that life in the French capital is an entirely different animal than rustic living in the Highlands. In all reality, Claire and Jamie will have a harder time adjusting to the world of politics and subterfuge than their viewers.

"But it's the book, y'know, and we have to follow the book," Heughan explained. "And the first half of series 2 is very much a different world and a different kind of enemy. And in the second half, it's very much back to where we were, sort of familiar Scotland and familiar enemies. But it's great, it's a great sort of two sides to the story."

In the unlikely event you do find yourself grating your teeth through the Parisian tale of political intrigue, poison, and powerful new enemies, you won't have long to wait before the iconic couple is back in the world of tartan and kilts.

"There's a very different look and feeling in the Paris section of the show, and then it's going to return to Scotland and become more of a war story, and it's going to feel more like two seasons," executive producer Ron Moore told TV Insider. "And there's the '40s, and there'll be some '60s as well. There's a lot of time travel."
