While Teresa is a free woman, her criminal past is still holding her back from visiting her husband in jail.

Apparently Teresa’s own legal troubles have stopped her from going to see her husband, who is serving a 41-month sentence at the Fort Dixon facility in New Jersey.

“All of her paperwork is in but she’s waiting on final approval,” one insider told Us Weekly Thursday morning. “It takes longer because she’s on probation.”

Teresa was just released from prison herself on Dec. 23 after serving less than a year of her 15-month sentence. Word is she was released for good behavior. Still, she was on house arrest until February; which gave her time to spend with Joe and their four daughters Gia, 15, Gabriella, 11, Miliana, 10 and Audriana, 6, until he checked in on March 23. The two pleaded guilty to several fraud charges back in 2014 including mortgage and tax evasion.

“Teresa’s upset she can’t see him yet,” the insider said.

Teresa has found comfort in a new friend Dorinda Medley from The Real Housewives of New York. Their friendship actually began when Teresa was in prison in Connecticut as Medley “wrote her fan letters.”

“They met when Teresa got out and became best friends!”

Joe might find a friend of his own in Apollo Nida. He is the husband of The Real Housewives of Atlanta star, Phaedra Parks, and was just transferred to Fort Dixon from Lexington, Ky. just before Joe's arrival.
