The long-awaited gay storyline happened Sunday night on ABC's Once Upon a Time, and there are mixed reactions among fans.

During Sunday night's episode of Once Upon a Time, Ruby (Meghan Ory) and Dorothy (Teri Reeves) shared a true love's kiss and then another one at the end of the episode.

Buzz regarding a lesbian relationship on Once Upon a Time had been building ever since the start of the season in September.

"We know that [the LGBT] community has been a big supporter of the show, and we would love to be able to tell a love story that reflects that," executive producer Eddy Kitsis said at a screening of the season 5 premiere.

Now that it's finally happened, Kitsis and fellow co-creator Adam Horowitz have revealed their brief comments on the matter.

"True love's kiss has been a staple of this show since the beginning," they said. "This past Sunday's episode was just another example of how in a fairy tale, as in life, love is love."

Reaction to this kiss was met with praise among some sections of the OUAT fan community, while others weren't as happy. Some on Twitter were happy to see a "true love's kiss" between two women on national TV, while others weren't as thrilled to see it between two relatively minor characters in the Once Upon a Time universe.
