It appears fans desperate to find out which character ended season 6 of The Walking Dead at the wrong end of Negan's (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) baseball bat Lucille can potentially cross one more off their lists.

After most fans figured that Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Carl (Chandler Riggs) were safe after Negan chose his victim and warned everyone not to make a move or they would both suffer other fates, it appears hat fan-favorite Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) could also be safe, after an interview with TV Line where he hinted the death would be "mind-blowing," but also potentially revealed it may not have been his character who suffered.

"I will definitely 100-percent say that it's well worth the wait," he said. "It's large. It's mind-blowing."

Of course he wouldn't say just who's head became Negan's bashing ground, but while trying to avoid saying who it was, he may have hinted that Daryl was saved by initially referring to the experience of saying goodbye to other characters, before adding it could be a goodbye for him as well.

"we're a very tight-knit group down there [on location in Georgia], and we take it very personally, because we're in it and living it. Every time you see us crying on camera, those are real tears. It's a whole day of living that s-t," he said. "And when personal things happen to you, you don't wander around telling everybody your personal stuff."

"So for us, it doesn't feel like just a spoilers, it feels like a moment that really happened," he continued. "And if there's a death involved, it's kinda weird to talk about it. It's like going to our friend's funeral or going possibly to our own funeral. It's not like, 'Hey, how are you? Want a selfie? Let me tell you about the funeral I was just at...".

If Reedus' comment did in fact hint that his character was safe, and Rick and Carl were also safe, it would narrow down the group of survivors who could be victims down to Aaron, Abraham, Eugene, Glenn, Maggie, Michonne, Rosita and Sasha.

The Walking Dead season 7 returns in October.
