'Outlander' Season 2: Claire & Jamie 'Need To Be Together', Actors Teases Separation Woes [VIDEO]
They say absence makes the heart grow fonder, and Outlander's Claire and Jamie will put that axiom to the test as season 3 begins.
All couples have to weather the ups and downs of marriage - rediscovering romance, planning how to raise the kids, dealing with your wife's husband's murderous ancestor...oh no, that's just the Frasers - but have to do so across nearly two centuries. The Highlander and the Sassenach have a love story or the ages, and soon they will get to prove that no matter how long they are apart, they will always want each other.
"I think that they're soul mates; they're meant to be together," Caitriona Balfe (Claire) told the Los Angeles Times. "We're going to see them apart again and we're going to see how that affects them each individually. That's something I'm really looking forward to in season 3."
When Outlander tackles the events of Voyager, Claire will find herself split between two timelines once more.
"Part of it will be with Frank, which I find that storyline very complex and very interesting to play, but I'm really excited to get back to the reunion with Jamie and what they new discovery of a relationship is going to be," the actress explained to Entertainment Weekly Radio. "Obviously, having spent many years apart from each other, they're going to have to get know each other again, relearn how to love each other and accept each other for the people they now are because they will be very different people."
According to Sam Heughan (Jamie), the Frasers are a couple "who need to be together." We've all seen the terrible things that can happen when they're apart. What toll will their extended separation have?
