They're now officially on opposing sides since Jennifer (Melissa Reeves) has filed to be granted custody of his son, and the battle between her and Chad (Billy Flynn) will only start to get ugly on Days of Our Lives.

After deciding that Chad was spiraling out of control in his desperate attempt to locate a missing Abigail, she became concerned that Thomas could be in danger. When coupled with his mother being gone, Jennifer decided the best environment for the baby would be with her.

Now, Chad is livid that his mother-in-law is turning against him and trying to take his son away from him when that's all he has left to be happy about following Abigail running from the mental hospital. And in an effort to make sure he is the one who wins the upcoming battle, he won't be afraid to use dirty tactics to try and prove that Jennifer is a worse fit as a guardian than he is.

Jennifer certainly has an arsenal of things she can use against Chad, who's past as a DiMera meant he had exhibited shady behaviors before and even done things that were unsavory and uncalled for. The fact that he has been the far least evil of the DiMeras, and even proved himself to be a good man to Abigail even as she spiraled from her mental health issues and the traumas she suffered because of Ben, won't be enough to convince her that he is able to properly care for his son.

However, Chad also has something big he can use against Jennifer, and it is something much more recent. After her car accident on New Year's, Jennifer became addicted to her pain medications, and was deep in the clutches of addiction not to long ago. If he needs something to use against his mother-in-law to prove she may not be the most stable environment for his son, that will be his key to winning the battle.
