She was stunned because the people she thought would disapprove most of her engagement to Luca (Miles Gaston Villanueva) seemed to actually be supportive of the plans, but Summer's (Hunter King) mother Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) will find herself driven to extreme to make sure the wedding doesn't happen on The Young and the Restless.

She will first vent her frustration to her husband, Jack (Peter Bergmann), and express that she is willing to do whatever it takes to make sure her daughter doesn't marry Luca, whom no one trusts.

"I would rather die," she says in a preview clip for the Tuesday, August 9 episode. "No way is that wedding happening."

However, she will be appalled when Jack tells her she needs to let Summer make her own mistakes, and in the effort to make sure she can save her own marriage, which she has committed to, she will tell him she'll stay out of things. However, when she goes to Luca and encourages him to tell Summer they should have a long engagement, she will be motivated instead to do something unthinkable.

Victor (Eric Braden) has also privately expressed that he wants to make sure the wedding doesn't happen, though to Summer's face, he is portraying the proud and doting Grandpa, and will continue telling her that she has his support.

"You have supported me, always," he says in the clip. "And I will always support you."

After their talk Summer will return home and see her mother and fiance, and will tell her mother she wants a quick engagement, and will already be planning the wedding. And when Phyllis realizes she doesn't have time to work with Nick (Joshua Morrow) to find something on Luca that they can use against him to stop the wedding, she will be forced to work with the last person she ever wanted to in order to get what she wants-Victor.

The Young and the Restless airs Monday-Friday at 12:30 p.m. on CBS.
