He's been encouraged to just let Adam (Justin Hartley) and Chelsea (Melissa Clare Egan) go on the run to give them a fighting chance against the hell Victor (Eric Braden) put them through, but Dylan (Steve Burton) will be torn between wanting to let them live together and happy and doing the right thing as a cop on The Young and the Restless.

When he learned that Chelsea and Connor had escaped the penthouse to join Adam through a secret passageway into Nick's (Joshua Morrow) old apartment, Nick told him it would be best to just let them go. At first he disagreed and questioned Kevin (Greg Rikaart) and Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson) about their potentially aiding Chelsea, and realized through the two of them that his mother, Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) actually helped, meaning she too could go down for the crime.

Now, he also has come into evidence-video surveillance of the getaway car Chelsea used, as well as a license plate number. But since he doesn't know what to do and whether it's worth a criminal charge of his own if it's found he had evidence and didn't turn it in, he will ask Sharon (Sharon Case) for advice on what to do. And though keeping their family together at all times is important to them, he will be surprised when she too encourages him to look the other way.

"Nick was right," she says in a preview clip for the Wednesday, August 31 episode. "Let them go."

However, though he has everyone convinced he will let Adam and Chelsea live their lives together without turning them in, he will eventually feel the need to do what he swore to when he became a cop, and will go to Paul (Doug Davdison) with the evidence.

Meanwhile, others are considering the possibility of life in Genoa City without Adam and Chelsea's presence, and Kevin in particular will see their disappearance as a good thing, because it will mean Chloe and Bella can live there freely-something that will upset Mariah (Camryn Grimes).

"If Adam is off the grid forever, Chloe and Bella can be free to live their lives," Kevin says in the clip.

"Here?" Mariah asks.

"Yes, here," he insists

The Young and the Restless airs Monday-Friday at 12:30 p.m. on CBS.
