Dark Matter managed to top its season 1 cliffhanger on Friday, and that's saying something.

Betrayal is now a mainstay for the crew of the Raza, and the latest round of backstabbing caused more than half of the cast to close out season 2 in a state of flux. "But First, We Save the Galaxy" ended with the destruction of EOS-7, causing the events of "Stuff to Steal, People to Kill" to become a reality. In doing so, Dark Matter may have sent Two (Melissa O'Neil), Three (Anthony Lemke), Five (Jodelle Ferland) and Six (Roger Cross) to their doom.

Series creator Joseph Mallozzi did little to ease out minds in the aftermath of the finale.

"We're in the process of hammering out Season 3 now," the events of which will "depend on who survives," Mallozzi told TV Junkies.

There was one death the Dark Matter mastermind could confirm, however. Nyx (Melanie Liburd) did not survive that poison blade.

It's a good thing Syfy has already ordered season 3. Otherwise, fans would have to take a cue from Three and knock down a few doors in search of answers. As you impatiently wait for next summer, you can mull over Mallozzi's latest teaser.

"I'll avoid commenting suffice it to say we are hard at work, providing answers to a few of the, uh, outstanding questions we were left with at episode's end," the writer teased on his blog. "And, I guarantee you - BIG answers coming your way in season 3."
