With the major cliffhanger in the mid-season finale episode of Grey's Anatomy Season 13, a lot of theories and speculations have been circulating online regarding its major characters. One rumor is that Justin Chambers who plays the role of Alex Karev has been said to be the newest lead character to leave the show.
According to Australia Network News, there is a huge possibility that Alex will take the plea deal and go to jail in order to protect Jo (Camilla Cuddington). In the previous episode, Jo confessed the reason to Alex why she can't marry him.
It was revealed that Jo is already married and that she has been hiding from her husband who was abusive to her in the past. Jo is under a difficult circumstance since if she decides to testify in favor of Alex, there is a huge chance that her husband will track her down.
Speculations claim that since Alex still has feelings for Jo, he will try and protect her instead, even if it means that he has to go to jail. Meredith, played by Ellen Pompeo, tries to convince Alex to not accept the plea deal as she also needs him as a friend. Will Alex accept the deal and protect Jo, or will he decline and fight for his innocence?
Meanwhile, theories regarding Meredith's Alzheimer's disease were featured in an article posted in Entertainment Weekly. It was revealed in the past, Meredith has a chance to inherit the disease which her mother originally had. With that, speculations about it surfacing in the latest season of Grey's Anatomy have been circulating online.
It was said that it is possible that Meredith will slowly show symptoms of the disease which will affect her daily tasks. This theory broke the hearts of many fans but they will have to wait and see if any of these theories are true once the show continues next year.
