‘Bates Motel’ Season 5 News: Trailer Offers First Look At Rihanna; Songstress Playing Marion Crane
"Bates Motel" Season 5, which also happens to be the final season is a highly anticipated one. But relief has come in the form of a trailer that A&E has released of the thriller and it gives the viewers a glimpse of Rihanna who is seen playing Marion Crane.
"Bates Motel" Season 5 trailer takes a look at Rihanna as Marion Crane, reports IGN. It also offers a look inside the psyche of Norman (Freddie Highmore) that is constantly developing and has two memorable scenes from Hitchcock's Psycho. One is the arrival of Crane at the motel and the other is Norman looking at her through a peephole.
While the film saw Crane as a "woman on the run" after stealing money from her boss, the TV show has a different backstory for her character. Nonetheless, it is there to catch the eye of Norman and his murderous psyche. Showrunner Kerry Ehrin has also spoken up about this change. She said that they have taken the threads of that story and are using them so it is recognisable but it different where they go with it, claims Screen Rant.
Explaining Marion, she stated that it is tough to be in a situation where one is in love with a guy and for whatever reason, he keeps stalling. According to her, the internal story of that is very interesting for a woman and audiences never really got to see that. Psycho just dealt with the outside of that as it was trying to do a story about a contemporary woman with some edge, with some expectations.
However, they are rooting for her to get what she wants. Speaking about Norman, she said that he is in an incredibly intense and interesting place that they have built him when that sequence of episodes starts. It is a collision of Bates Motel storytelling and Marion Crane showing up. Ehrin said that he is in a very fragile and lonely place and Marion is a charismatic woman and she is super present when she is with him and she is very attractive. All those things are exactly what he needs at this moment.
"Bates Motel" premieres on Feb. 20 on A&E.
