In Robert Kirkman's comic version of "The Walking Dead," the role of Paul "Jesus" Monroe has been known for being a gay character. Now, the 38-year-old writer revealed that "The Walking Dead" Season 7's Paul "Jesus" Rovia is also gay mirroring the comic strip's tale.

"If I was coy before, I'll be less so now. Jesus is gay on the TV show, as well," Robert Kirkman told Comicbook. Tom Payne, who plays the role of Jesus, on the other hand, was then asked if his character will be also gay in "The Walking Dead" Season 7.

"Yeah, [he] will be. ... Essentially he is the same as he is the comic books in that regard," Tom Payne said. However, the 34-year-old actor explained that he is not yet bound to reveal how it will be disclosed in "The Walking Dead" Season 7, but it would definitely happen.

With that said, it is now a question if "The Walking Dead" Season 7 will also feature a backstory of Jesus or even in its comic's version. Tom Payne explained that he is not sure if that will occur, but he will be definitely more than happy if that happens.

Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) has an episode of his backstory and Jesus might also have his own. However, Tom Payne said that he kind of like the mystery his character in "The Walking Dead" Season 7 has that will make the viewers cast their predictions and theories of what really made him the guy that he is now.

Meanwhile, viewers who want to see a team-up between Jesus and Daryl (Norman Reedus) in "The Walking Dead" Season 7 will be a little saddened with the show's boss Greg Nicotero's statement. The special make-up effects creator instantly dismissed the possibility the two characters' romance, Digital Spy reported.

At the Walker Stalker Cruise, a fan screamed her support to Daryl and Jesus and asking them to be together in "The Walking Dead" Season 7. But, Greg Nicotero firmly said that it would never happen and there would never be "enough exclamation points" to his no.
