'Shameless' Season 8 Premiere: What Can We Expect From The Gallaghers This Year?
Get ready America! The Gallagher's are back for another season of mayhem, and we can't wait!
Showtime's original hit series, Shameless, will premiere this Sunday, Nov. 5, and we're going to get you ready with some spoilers for season 8!
By now, we all know America's most disruptive, yet oddly lovable family, has a knack for getting into trouble. Led by their absentee, narcissistic father, Frank Gallagher (William H. Macy), the six Gallagher children (Fiona, Lip, Ian, Debbie, Carl, and Liam) have all had their fair share of bad-decision making. Liam, not so much.
During the season 7 finale, we saw that the misguided family were finally trying to get their acts together. Fiona became an owner of a building, Lip is attempting to stay sober, Ian is a firefighter despite his bipolar disease, Debbie is somewhat becoming a good mom, and Carl, who surprised us the most, went to military school. Even Frank seemed to have made a step in the right direction after the sudden death of his wife, Monica.
So where does this leave the band of misfits this season?
According to CarterMatt, the patriarch of the family will be turning over a new leaf. Frank will apparently try to be the father that he never was to his children in the past. Seeing as how his failed parenting goes back to when Fiona was just a baby, I'm skeptical if he can do a complete 360 in one season. But anything is possible on this show.
Fiona (Emmy Rossum), as mentioned earlier, will be taking on her duties as a landlord, and possibly starting a new romance. It has been hinted that the eldest Gallagher, may start a new relationship with a tenant, Nessa (Jessica Szohr). Fiona hasn't had the best luck in the love department. It would be nice to see her in a healthy relationship that actually has the potential to last beyond season 8.
Speaking of Fiona, let's not forget the honorary members of the Gallagher family and Fiona's best friends, Kev (Steve Howey) and Veronica (Shanola Hampton).
The couple were bamboozled into signing over ownership of their bar, The Alibi Room, to their shared wife, Svetlana (Isidora Goresther) in season 7. This season, we will see the furious couple try to get their bar back, though it will be difficult since Svetlana obtained the rights to it fair and square.
The second eldest, Lip (Jeremy Allen White), is going to continue to struggle with his sobriety, but as far as his budding relationship with coworker, Sierra (Ruby Modine), it doesn't look like it will be going any further than just a friendship.
As for Debbie (Emma Rose Kenney) and Carl (Ethan Cutkosky), there hasn't been much said about the two youngest of the Gallagher bunch, but one could assume that their story-lines will pick up right where they left off, and hopefully continue to go in a more positive direction.
What do you think will happen this season on Shameless?
Shameless premieres this Sunday, Nov. 5, at 9pm on Showtime!
