'America's Got Talent' Might Replace Mel B With Queen Latifah
For the past few years, NBC's summer talent competition series America's Got Talent has become a revolving door for on-air talent.
Bye Bye, Mel B?
The spiciest member of America's Got Talent's on-air judging team might be replaced soon. TMZ has learned that show producers are "unhappy" with Scary Spice.
Melanie 'Mel B' Brown has been a fixture on the show since the eighth season since replacing The Talk co-host and fan-favorite judge Sharon Osbourne in 2013.
On- And Off-Camera Antics
Many show insiders believe that Brown's potential termination could have been because of her on-air antics. During several episodes of America's Got Talent's previous season, Brown was shown multiple times throwing water at the franchise creator and lead judge Simon Cowell. Insiders also state that the tension continues to build as Brown wants a salary increase.
A Royal Replacement
America's Got Talent producers have already reportedly picked out Brown's replacement: actress-rapper Queen Latifah. However, America's Got Talent producers have not pulled any trigger yet as Latifah is still tied up with filming FOX Broadcasting Company's music drama Star.
As of publication, NBC has not commented on any of these casting rumors.
Mel B's Divorce Drama
While NBC is still deciding on Scary Spice's fate, Brown might regret bringing her off-camera drama into America's Got Talent. For most of 2017, Brown was engaged in a nasty custody battle with her ex-husband, Stephen Belafonte.
Last year, the singer filed for divorce from her husband after being married for nearly a decade. The singer stated that she filed the divorce due to "irreconcilable differences" and also asked the judge for joint legal and physical custody of their daughter, Madison Brown Belafonte.
The possible source of the break-up could have been an alleged affair that Belafonte had with their former nanny, Lorraine Gilles.
America's Got Replacements
If NBC finally decides to replace Brown with Latifah, the actress-rapper would not be the only relatively newest member of the cast.
Fashion mogul Tyra Banks is expected to return to host America's Got Talent for a second season. Banks replaced the show's longtime host, Nick Cannon, after he left the show last year due to a feud with NBC.
In 2016, Cowell joined the show as a judge when America's Got Talent returned to Los Angeles after spending four years on the East Coast when Howard Stern was the head judge.
