Mistaken Identity: ABC's Bachelor's Bekah Martinez Is Not Missing
ABC's The Bachelor just got more intense with a missing person case. One of the contestants on the show was mistakenly assumed missing in a hilarious mistaken identity case.
Bekah Is Not Missing
The popular love show received unwanted media attention after Bekah Martinez was reported missing. Martinez, who is currently one of the leading the competitors on the show, was reportedly missing since her mother had not heard from her in weeks.
The story began when the North Coast Journal shared a list of 35 missing people and one person on the list looked like Martinez. After comparing the photo to Martinez pictures on her social media page, the publication page reached out to Martinez to confirm if she was indeed not missing. The story led many to believe that Martinez got a nose job prior to her appearance on The Bachelor, which Martinez denied.
"I never got a freaking nose job, it's called contouring, people, look it up. It's just overall a very unflattering picture of me [from] when I was 15," Martinez explained on her Instagram story.
The deputies on the case also contacted Martinez's mother to see if she had heard from her daughter. Martinez's mother told authorities that her daughter was heading to a marijuana farm with friends and she had last spoken to her daughter on Nov. 18. Before this Bekah posted a photo on her instagram stating that she would be "giving up" her social media for a while but did not give a reason why.
Martinez then jokingly posted on her Twitter account to remind her mom that there was no cell service while filming the show.
Martinez is one of the show's most standout contestants and will be moving forward to week 6.
Despite all the calamity, at least this "missing" contestant has got a sense of humor.
The 22nd season of The Bachelor features bachelor Arie Luyendyk Jr., a former real estate agent and race car driver who is looking for love. The 36-year-old from Scottsdale, Arizona, is the runner-up from season 8 of The Bachelerotte.
The Bachelor airs every Monday at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.
