Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner has figured out the ending of the series, according to new reports.

Weiner talked to USA Today recently about the show's upcoming final season as well as his writing process.

"I opened the writer's room almost a month ago. I figure out the arc for the entire season first. I've known for awhile (how it will go)." Weiner revealed. He and his writers have already begun working on the premiere episode. "I don't want to leave anything on the table. It has its own organic direction."

Weiner said that he has a vision of Don Draper (Jon Hamm) in his mind of a "charming old guy." Presuming Weiner's vision will actually take place in the show, he may have revealed that Don will definitely survive through the end of the series.

Mad Men fans have speculated for several seasons that Don might die in the series finale, especially since the opening credits feature a silhouette version of Don falling from a skyscraper. Though the series does not kill characters off very often, it is possible that there will be deaths of significant characters given that it's the final season.

Weiner also spoke to Vanity Fair about the ending and implied that things might end on a positive note for Don.

"I do have an ending that is different than that, and hopefully when the series will be over, they will see it as another step in [Don's] development," he revealed.

Season 7 of Mad Men will premiere in 2014, likely in the spring or summer.
