The father of Mr. Gold/Rumplestiltskin (Robert Carlyle) has officially been cast on Once Upon a Time, according to a new report by TV Guide.

British actor Stephen Lord will be playing Colin, Rumple's notorious father who has been referred to many times over the course of the series. Colin was branded a coward in the Fairytale Land That Was, and Rumple did not want to suffer the same fate as his father. However, Rumple was branded a coward anyway when he intentionally injured himself to get out of the ogre war.

Lord will be appearing as Colin in the eighth episode of the season, scheduled to air on Sunday, Nov. 17, though the report suggests that he may appear in more episodes in the future. In episode 8, titled Think Lovely Thoughts, Colin will be featured in one of Rumple's flashbacks.

Lord, 41, is famous in Britain for his roles in such shows as EastEnders and Shameless.

Kitsis recently told TV Guide that Rumple wants to be a different person than his father.

"We've hinted in the past that his father was a coward and that his father's name was something that haunted him and that his father left him," executive producer Kitsis explained. "This is a man who wants to break the cycle of his past. He wants to be a good father, but it's like that quote, 'I can resist everything but temptation,' so that's also his weakness."

Once Upon a Time airs Sundays at 8 p.m. on ABC.
