'NCIS: LA' Season 5 Spoilers: How Will Deeks and Kensi Survive Separation? Granger Acts 'Suspiciously,' Nell Enters Field VIDEO
NCIS: Los Angeles fans have a another whole week to find out how Deeks and Kensi will deal with their recent separation, but executive producer John Peter Kousakis has been dropping hints about the partners new dynamic.
Just as LAPD Detective Marty Deeks (Eric Christain Olsen) and NCIS' Kensi Blye (Daniela Ruah) were beginning to get a handle on their mutual private life, Hetty (Linda Hunt) and Assistant Director Granger (Miguel Ferrer) reassigned Kensi to a classified mission.
Part of previously filmed seven-episode Afghanistan story arc, the reassignment acts as a cover for Ruah's real-life pregnancy. As Kensi leaves to deal with the mysterious "White Ghost" case, her absence will have a big impact on her Los Angeles based cohorts.
But fans shouldn't worry about the competent agent. According to Kousakis, she is "alive and well." However, Granger's odd behavior during the mission will have Kensi on high alert.
"Spoiler: Granger behaves suspiciously," Kousakis tweeted on Sunday. "It's need to know basis w/Kensi. She doubts his actions in upcoming Eps."
While Deeks' distraction over his emerging romance with his partner led to a few tough calls during "Frozen Lake" (see video below), the LAPD liaison will work hard to stay on task while his girlfriend is away.
"[Deeks is] strong as ever," Kousakis wrote shortly after "Frozen Lake" aired. "Concerned about Kensi. But he's a pro. He'll stay focused."
Although it is unknown how exactly the team will deal with the loss of their fourth member, it looks like Nell will be spending more time away from the Ops Center. Kousakis, however, would not comment as to whether or not the feisty genius will take on the mantel of Deeks' partner.
"You'll have to wait and see," Kousakis tweeted coyly. "Nell will definitely be more active during Kensi absence!"
