'Bones' Season 9 Spoilers: How Long Will The Ghost Killer Haunt Brennan & Booth? [VIDEO]
Bones fans who did not enjoy the length of the Pelant (Andrew Leeds) storyline should be pleased to know that the next serial killer won't last as long.
Bones executive producer Stephen Nathan spoke with TV Guide this week about the next episode of season 9, which features Brennan (Emily Deschanel) being haunted by Pelant in her dreams. She also dreams about The Ghost Killer, a new serial killer that shows up at various points through the second half of season 9.
"We will revisit this story again, but it's not going to have the breadth and length of the Pelant serial killer arc," Nathan told TV Guide. "I can tell you definitely it will remain ephemeral, but we might also meet 'The Ghost Killer.' I think we can have our cake and eat it too."
An upcoming episode will also feature the return of Danny (Freddie Prinze Jr.) the covert CIA agent who appeared in the season 9 premiere. Danny's return comes when he shows up in the middle of a murder investigation.
"We realize that this murder involves the CIA, and Danny specifically," Nathan said. "So all of the relationships are questioned, and become suspect, even the relationship between Booth and Danny. It's very complicated. When you're dealing with secrets and government manipulation and foreign sources, nothing is what it seems. There are doubts that everybody has to overcome. We're kind of challenging existing relationships this year. We're seeing what everybody can handle."
Bones season 9 airs Fridays at 8 p.m. on Fox.
