On the next episode of Bones season 9, one of the members of the Jeffersonian team will be going undercover in the world of competitive chess.

After the body of a "renowed but disliked" chess master is found in pig slop, Sweets (John Francis Daley) decides to go undercover and investigate the world of chess in episode 13 of Bones season 9. Meanwhile, Cam receives noticed that she will be honored in the "Outstanding Woman of Science" issue of a prestigious science publication, but is reluctant to accept since she thinks Brennan (Emily Deschanel) is much more deserving of the honor.

Fox has also published press releases for the following two episodes of Bones. In episode 14, the team investigates the death of Colin Haynes (Charlie Worsham), an up and coming country singer. Their investigation leads them to Colin's record label, which is discovered to have produced some shady dealings with him.

Meanwhile, "squintern" Wendall Bray (Michael Graat Terry) is participating in a hockey game when he suddenly breaks his arm. Brennan investigates his injuries and discovers something shocking.

Finally, episode 15 of Bones season 9 will feature the team investigating the murder Laura Frank, a kidnap victim. Things point to Lauren's volatile relationship with her stepmother. Elsewhere, Hodgins (T.J. Thyne) discovers a family secret.

In other Bones news, Fox is negotiating with the show's team to produce a 10th season. Fox president Kevin Reilly told reporters at TCA Monday that Stephen Nathan would likely take over as show runner while current show runner Hart Hanson moves on to develop a new show.

Bones airs Fridays at 8 p.m. on Fox.
