Frances Conroy might be too busy to play a new character in the fifth season of FX's American Horror Story this year.

Conroy has been cast in a new Hulu comedy series called Casual, which comes from film director Jason Reitman (Up in the Air, Juno), according to Deadline. She will be a series regular in the series, playing the mother of the two lead characters.

While a specific premiere date has not yet been determined for Casual, it may begin filming as early as the spring or summer, which would be in direct conflict with American Horror Story production. If this is the case, Conroy would not be able to be a series regular on American Horror Story for season 5 if Casual is filmed this year.

Michael Chiklis Not Appearing In 'American Horror Story' Anymore?

Conroy has played a character on every season of American Horror Story, with the veteran actress able to blend into a variety of different characters. She played old maid Moira O'Hara in season 1, the Angel of Death in Asylum, the eccentric Myrtle Snow in Coven and clueless socialite Gloria Mott in Freak Show.

She is one of only five stars who have appeared in all four seasons of the show, which includes Jessica Lange, Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson and Lily Rabe.

As it stands now, American Horror Story season 5, known as Hotel, will star Lady Gaga, Matt Bomer, Cheyenne Jackson and Wes Bentley.

American Horror Story: Hotel is expected to premiere in October on FX, though the network has yet to announced a specific premiere date.
