The revelation that Belle (Emilie de Ravin) is pregnant will affect Rumple (Robert Carlyle) in the weeks to come on ABC's Once Upon a Time.

The latest episode of Once Upon a Time featured the big reveal that Belle was pregnant with Rumple's child. Rumple doesn't know this yet, of course, since he remains in the Underworld, but it's going to really hit him when he finds out.

Once Upon a Time creators Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz spoke about this twist in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly.

"It's going to affect both of them," Kitsis revealed. "As we saw in the premiere episode, Rumple lied to her. The question we get is, 'He's lied to her so many times, has he learned anything?' And I think he has. When he finds out that she's pregnant, it's going to affect him, it's going to affect her, it's definitely going to affect his motivation. Rumple is a new person. We know why he grabbed that dagger, but we're really going to understand more of where he's coming from."

Fans shouldn't worry about things too much, though, considering the love Belle and Rumple have for each other.

"At the core of their relationship is a really deep love, despite all the terrible things that have gone on between them," Horowitz noted. "This will be another test to that love."

The major problem is that Rumple had previously promised his second born baby to a healer (Aaron Douglas) in exchange for healing Baelfire (Michael Raymond-James), his other child.

The creators were also asked if Rumple would regret his decision to become the Dark One again, but Kitsis teased, "I would say quite the opposite."

However, the next episode will mostly focus on Hook (Colin O'Donoghue) and his attempts to get out of the Underworld. The episode will feature a "surprise visit" by Hook's brother, Liam (guest star Bernard Curry).

Once Upon a Time airs Sundays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
