She's been living with them and is supposed to give them her baby in an adoption that finally lets them be parents together again, but after Shawn (Devon Martinez) goes into premature labor, everything could be halted for Sage (Kelly Sullivan) and Nick (Joshua Morrow) on The Young and the Restless.

The couple believes their son Christian (who was really Adam's) died, and since then, Sage has been determined to adopt Shawn's baby. And though the process seems to be underway and like it will go through, Shawn has been growing closer to her child—even suggesting the name David for him—and has been somewhat having other thoughts.

After she runs into Sharon (Sharon Case) in the coffeehouse, she will ask questions about when she gave Cassie up for adoption and also about changing her mind and taking her daughter back—but the conversation will be halted after she suddenly goes into premature labor, which will lead to Sharon taking action and alerting Nick and Sage.

"Hello?" Nick asks in a preview clip for the Thursday, March 31 episode after picking up the phone.

"Nick? Shawn is in labor. We're at the coffee house," Sharon says.

"We're on our way," Nick replies.

Now, Nick and Sage's worst fears will be re-lived as they contend with the early birth—and the chance that it could lead to the baby dying, which would be Sage's biggest nightmare coming to life a second time.

However, after arriving at the hospital, they could also learn that the other fear regarding losing another son could also come true. After Sharon begins to apologize, Sage will demand answers about how she could be responsible for what has now happened. Sharon will be forced to admit that she was having a deep conversation with Shawn about adoption before she went into labor and may need to admit that Shawn might have been having doubts about giving up her child after all.

If Shawn has changed her mind, it will also be traumatic for Nick and Sage since the adoption papers were never signed.

The Young and the Restless airs Monday-Friday at 12:30 p.m. on CBS.
