The show may have completely surpassed the territory covered by George R.R. Martin's published A Song of Ice and Fire books, but the author may have just revealed what fans can expect from one of Game of Thrones' many subplots in future episodes.

On the show, the subplot concerning the Southern land of Dorne hasn't been seen since the season six premiere, when Ellaria Sand (Indira Varma) and the Sand Snakes (Rosabell Laurenti Sellers, Jessica Henwick and Keisha Castle-Hughes) killed Prince Doran (Alexander Siddig) and Prince Trystane (Toby Sebastian) in a mutiny. It isn't clear when the city will be visited again, though it is most likely on Cersei's (Lena Headey) list of places to attack for revenge after Myrcella's death.

However, in the new excerpt, told from the perspective of the character Arianne Martell, who is not featured on the show, as she reports what she learns while touring the countryside to her father, Prince Doran, it appears Dorne could have another significant role in the future, one which plays into the plot involving Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) and her struggle to reclaim the Iron Throne, as the character and her bloodline are mentioned in the chapter.

On his blog, where he announced the new chapter, Martin hinted that the chapter would give more answers about the Dornish characters, even though several of them are now gone on the show. It is unclear just how much of the plot could play out on the popular HBO show.

"You want to know what the Sand Snakes, Prince Doran, Areo Hotah, Ellaria Sand, Darkstar and the rest will be up to in WINDS OF WINTER? Quite a lot, actually. The sample will give you a taste. For the rest, you will need to wait," he wrote.

Game of Thrones airs Sundays at 9 p.m. on HBO.
